Governer Crist Commits $9.4 million to the Florida Rebate Program for Solar Photovoltaic & Solar Hot Water
Governer Crist's energy and climate change priorities include funding of $4.4 million for consumer rebates for the installation of solar photovoltaic and solar hot water systems in Fiscal Year 2008-09 and an additional $5 million for rebates during Fiscal Year 2009-10. The package includes $124.5 million to fund grants and other consumer incentives that spur investment in renewable energy technologies, biofuel development and production, and the deployment of energy efficiency technologies to mitigate energy costs for households and Florida's businesses. Finally, $14.1 million is included to fo fund energy efficiency projects in small cities and counties.*
These rebates will not last long ( 4 to 6 months) due to the fact that everyone on the waiting list from Fiscal Year 2008-09 will have to be paid first. Also, Gainesville's recent passing of a feed-in tariff will consume a large portion of the remaining funding. Secure your energy independence today and benefit from the Florida rebates paying for 50% of your system while they are still available!

Gainesville Passes the 1st Feed-in Tariff for Solar Photovoltaic Systems in the US
Beginning March 1, those in Gainesville with new solar photovoltaic systems will be eligible to receive 32 cents per kilowatt hour of electricity produced by the system over the next 20 years.
After a "historic day" filled with accolades and anticipation, city commissioners on Thursday approved the nation's first solar feed-in tariff ordinance, which will replace Gainesville Regional Utilities' current rebate program.
The many proponents of the renewable energy incentive - from local residents hoping to install systems to international photovoltaic manufacturers - are projecting the policy will stimulate millions of dollars in private investment in solar energy.
What could attract that level of investment, according to Don Davis, Gainesville president of Capital City Bank, is a 5 percent return on investment after taxes in a 20-year fixed contract.* Allsolar Service Company believes that the return will be much greater when you include the 30% Federal Tax Credit and Florida's Rebate of $4 per watt up to $20,000 for residential and $4 per watt up to $100,000 for commercial.
